I researched new backlinks from 740 sites over three periods: June-July 25, August-September 25, and October-November 25.

My task was to check if sites increase the number of links per month or struggle with new backlinks.

The result of backlink dynamics was impressive: more than 30% decrease in the amount of new links per month.

What sites have I decided to research?

The majority of sites are Tech, Marketing, and Business-related. I focus on such sites due to my client’s requests to find new opportunities to build links. Also, the mentioned niches are highly competitive and build a lot of links.

What “new links” are in my research?

I use Ahrefs to find new links to analyze 740 sites every two months. It allows me to form a list of prospects for my outreach campaigns.

My key settings:

  • Dofollow link
  • Page in English
  • No redirects
  • New and live links

The most important setting is “Best links: Only,” which helps to exclude previously checked sites. Additionally, I focus on sites with a Domain Rating (DR) more than 40 and traffic from 1000.

Analysis of new links

I’ve gathered information on new links for six months and divided them into three time frames.

The majority of sites 47% keep increase amount of links despite of decrease in the previous period. Nevertheless, only 7% site shows steady growth. On the other hand, almost 27% of sites significantly decrease the number of links during the research period of time June 25 – November 2025.

I’ll keep tracking the backlink trends for the selected sites.
